4Good, Solid Chair  Mar 20, 2010 By Postcolonial1 "postcolonial1"
I was looking for a durable, comfortable chair for my wife. My experience has been that office chairs from the office supply stores last about 2 years. I wanted something that would be a solid product, something that would last several years. Though the cost of the chair is about 5 times the amount of the average chair, I figured it was a worth a try.

I placed the order through Amazon and received a call about 4 days later from the vendor indicating that they were out of the color I ordered. We agreed upon green. When the chair arrived it was gray. Not a serious problem, but it seemed that after the phone call and conversation, they could have gotten that part right.

The chair is primarily a molded plastic, but it is built with much more thoughtfulness and engineering than a standard chair. I purchased the "basic" chair so there were few bells and whistles. My wife has been using it for more than a month and she says it's the most comfortable office chair she has ever used. The back is designed for good air flow and I can attest that it's easier to sit in this chair for extended periods than most other office chairs. I think the arm rests are a little short, but I think for most people that is a non-issue. It's probably not the chair for the office executive who likes to lord his authority over his minions. But for a SOHO environment, it's a very well made product.

Oh....I should mention that the chair arrived fully assembled. As you can imagine, the shipping box was rather large.

5Best Chair Ever  Mar 08, 2007 By T. Kearney
I never thought I would spend this amount of money for a office chair, however it is truly the BEST CHAIR EVER. I have been in business for 20years and every couple of years I would have to replace my office chair and my back would always hurt after sitting in those chairs bought from the local office supply house. I now enjoy sitting at my desk, pain free hour after hour. If you do the math it cost about $50.00 per year over 12 years(warranty). Whats your back worth? I'm buying two more for my home office.

5Above Average Ergo Chair  Sep 25, 2010 By M. Culver "Flyer"
As the title says, this is an above average chair, and it's an excellent value for the money. Trying to get an even better one on order at the day job (waiting on manager approval), but that's not my nickel -- this one is still way better than the fully-adjustable day-job office chair that is currently at the office desk. I've tried a number of ergonomic chairs, and can't say that the wild prices for most of them are justified when lined up next to this one.

I had to do something about the home office chair. For the past 20 years I used just an ordinary chair. Things came to a head when I had to create a 100-page workbook in less than a week. Could feel that my upper back hurt, but no opportunity to stop -- because the workbook HAD to be ready for a class in a few days. Long story short, although there was obviously an underlying condition put over the top by working in front of the computer for too long, I wound up in surgery with a titanium plate fusing vertebrae together. Like I said, I HAD to do something about the home office chair.

There's a lot of engineering thought in the chair, which is what I'd expect from this company. The seat is pliable and conforms to my butt, which makes long computing sessions pleasant from a sitting perspective. Perhaps one of my favorite features though is that it tips back with just the right resistance. I am sort of twitchy, so I can almost rock back and forth in it (it's steady unless I make it rock). This ability reduces the squirm factor for me - you may or may not sit in chairs the same way. By tipping (marketing types would call it "reclining") my back remains in contact with the GREAT lumbar support that is offered.

Others have dinged the chair because the arm rests are not adjustable. Honestly, they seem perfect at the height that they came from the factory. In an ordinary chair I had to tip sideways to get comfortable. Straight as an arrow in the Mirra chair for much better posture!

Additional comments: the chair swivels smoothly - no feeling that they cut corners on bearings or machining. Likewise the wheels roll smoothly, without feeling like the chair is going to scoot around unexpectedly.

Now if my manager would approve the ergo chair at the office...

4Chair review  Sep 30, 2010 By Chris Lovell "Yellowbelly"
As expected, the Mirra chair is well made, easy to assemble & extremely comfortable considering the lack of padding. It is a perfect office chair although perhaps not one that most executives would feel meets their standards of elegance - buy an Aeron Chair for another $400+ dollars if you want. As I own my own business and pay my own expenses ,I wanted a chair that was stable, comfortable and is not going to fall apart after 6 months. As I weigh 265lbs and 6ft 8" tall, I destroy sub-par office chairs quickly. I doubt if this will happen with the Mirra Chair & there is a 10 year warranty if that happens.

Assembly is quick and easy to do, it took 20 minutes to open the package, read the instructions and attach the back to the rest of the chair. Make sure you have a socket wrench with a 13MM socket to secure the back to the seat.

4Best bang for your buck  May 22, 2010 By Mike L. "GodOThndr"
I got this Herman Miller chair for the wife for Xmas, and it really has surprised me, both how sturdy and how comfortable it is considering it has a plastic back. I was a little hesitant to buy this model instead of the next one up (but that one would break the Xmas bank at $1200) but after having it for awhile, I have to say it the simple design of the back works extremely well. There is a flexible band that goes across the lumbar and the plastic on the back piece is both flexible and rigid in different spots. And the air holes allow your back to breath if you are up against it for long stretches.

Besides the back, the best thing about this chair is the bottom piece, i.e., the webbed seat. After sitting on cushioned chairs all day at work, I realize why you pay the $$ for these kinds of chairs. It removes so much discomfort from your back side, and allows blood to flow. You don't get hard points like on a cushion. On the aesthetic side, it comes in a ton of different colors to match just about anything you have going on. Highly recommend.
